MDCAT 2022 POSTPONED ANNOUNCEMENT BY MINISTER MR.QADER PATEL
The Medical and Dental Colleges Admissions Test, or MDCAT, has been postponed by the newly established Pakistan Medical Council due to the country’s current flood situation.
At a news conference on Wednesday afternoon in Islamabad, Minister for National Health Services and Regulations Abdul Qadir Patel made this announcement.
He claimed that due to disastrous floods, electricity and internet services remained unconnected in several areas of the nation, particularly in Sindh and Balochistan. He claimed that many pupils were now unable to register for the MDCAT test on the appropriate portal. Now he announced that students who previously couldn’t register themselves for the mdcat exam may register now through the PMC online portal. For such students, he said, the Portal would be open for other two weeks.
According to Abdul Qadir Patel, the minimal percentage needed to apply for admission to the MBBS and BDS programmes has also been lowered. Students can now apply for admission to MBBS with a 55 percent score and BDS with a 45 percent score, according to him. He previously stated that this threshold was 65% for MBBS and 60% for BDS.
The Minister stated that if a seat is not filled, this policy may also be revisited. According to him, over 16,000 Pakistani students are spending 50 billion rupees studying abroad. He declared that we are devoted to helping our kids.
The National Licensing Examination would still be offered to international applicants, he claimed, but the council has also decided to revise the exam for Pakistani graduates.
